In Temple Run if you pause in a bad place, like just before a corner, it can mean the end of the game once it resumes. Fortunately it doesn't have to be like that.
First, pick your pause spots carefully. Pause in places where you can see some clear road up ahead. It makes resuming much less stressful.
But if you do pause in a bad place, you can always do a swipe before the game resumes. While the countdown is running you can enter a swipe, and the action will happen the moment it resumes. So if you paused right in front of a hole, do an upswipe during the countdown. You'll jump immediately once the countdown is done.
