Within the Temple Run store under Utilities, you can buy the angel wings for 500 coins each. To use them in a game, just double-tap the screen any time you want. The wings will appear on your back and while they last, any time you die you'll automatically continue at the same place and with all your coins etc.
Once the effect wears off, it takes some time for the wings to be available again. Of course to use the wings multiple times in the same game, you'll need to have purchased more than one beforehand. When they become available you'll hear a little ding, and a wings icon will appear up at the top right of the screen. In fact if you have any wings purchased, the wing icon will be there when you start the game; you can use them immediately.
Nobody likes double-tapping and getting nothing, so try to have some in stock every time you run. Eventually you'll start making bulk purchases of dozens or more at a time so you don't have to worry about it. If the game goes long enough you can burn through quite a few. BTW, if you're buying a lot at one time you can tap quickly and get through the purchase pretty fast.
The worst thing about angel wings? Getting distracted while activating them and killing yourself, burning 500 coins for nothing. The best thing? Flying through the air towards certain death and slipping in a quick double-tap before you die. Ninja move.
